To support the technical teams with the mission of executing a coordinated audit on renewable energies, in accordance with the provisions of the OLACEFS Public Works Working Group (GTOP), the Office of the Comptroller of the Republic of Chile and the Court of Auditors of the Union of Brazil are providing training for officials through three webinars that contextualize field work to be carried out as part of the audit.

The third webinar looked at “Incentive policies and the evolution of costs of renewable energy sources in the electric sector”. The activity was held on Friday September 7 at the Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic of Chile, between 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. The event was streamed to other participating countries in the region.

Presentations were given by Cristian Lühr Álava, head of the Electric Tenders Unit of the Economic Regulation Department of the National Energy Commission of Chile and Juan Antonio Campos Abad of the Energy Goals and Policy Division of Chile´s Ministry of Energy.

In the first presentation, Cristian Lühr explained the great potential of renewable energies in Chile, and the main incentive policies for non-conventional renewable energies (NCRE). At the end of his presentation he spoke of the “2050 Energy Policy” and how it is a guideline towards an energetic, sustainable and inclusive future.

Juan Antonio Campos, meanwhile, used his presentation to look at stimulus policies for promoting renewable energy in Chile. He spoke about the costs of renewable energy, analyzing the global panorama and the national reality.
