The Court of Accounts of the State of Amazonas (TCE-AM), consistent with its responsibility and pioneer in environmental control issues, will hold on July 17, 2020, at 10h (Brasília time, UTF -3), the Web conference Deforestation and Burning in the Amazonas, A Challenge for Everyone!, an event that will bring together doctors, researchers and specialists in the area of monitoring, climate and biodiversity.
Last February, the TCE/AM created an Inter-Institutional Committee, with the environmental organizations of the Amazonas with the objective of contributing to the fulfillment of goals and actions in the fight against deforestation and reduction of forest fires in the State.
Among the participants of the event we can find the renowned Professor, Researcher and former director, President of INPE (NATIONAL INSTITUTE FOR SPACE RESEARCH), Ricardo Galvão and Professor and Researcher Carlos Nobre, who will make 20 minute presentations. During the Web conference, the SOU ECO application of the TCE-AM will be presented, developed in association with the Universidade do Estado do Amazonas (UEA), and the ATLAS SDG Amazonas Interactive Platform, developed by the Universidade Federal do Amazonas (UFAM).
According to the Coordinator and Mediator of the event, Counselor Júlio Pinheiro, the two applications are data-receiving tools for the formation of actions and public policies to address environmental problems. “The SOU ECO application, for example, allows citizens to make suggestions, environmental crime reports related to the locality in which they occur, even with ‘uploading’ images and geo-referencing of areas. The interactive platform maps the territory and the indicators of the municipalities of the Amazonas, relating them to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Global Agenda,” he explains.
At the end, he will do an hour of discussions led by the Secretary of State for the Environment, Eduardo Taveira; the President of the Association of Members of the Federal Court of Accounts of Brazil (Atricon), Counselor Fábio Nogueira and the Director of External Environmental Control of the Federal Court of Accounts, Anete Ferreira, who will give a brief presentation on the Monitoring of Conservation Units in the Amazonas.
