On March 8 and 9, 2018, the OLACEFS Executive Committee held the workshop Results Assessment and Communication Strateg in Brasilia, Brazil. The event was implemented in the context of the project “Strengthening External Oversight in the Environmental Field”, arranged by OLACEFS and the German Corporation for International Cooperation, GIZ.
The workshop facilitated the monitoring of results two years on from the execution of the Memorandum of Understanding signed by OLACEFS and GIZ for the implementation of the project. It was also an opportunity to define the monitoring criteria that will benefit the management of the project and the achievement of specified impacts, as well as a chance to apply tools to develop a communication strategy to foster greater participation of OLACEFS commissions, member SAIs and external stakeholders – all matters specified in the OLACEFS 2017 – 2022 Strategic Plan and relevant to the strengthening of institutional capacities.
The event was attended by representatives of the SAIs of Chile – as OLACEFS Executive Secretariat and holder of the Presidency of the Public Works Audit Working Group (GTOP); Brazil – holders of the Presidency of the Special Technical Commission for the Environment (COMTEMA) and the Capacity Building Committee (CCC); and Paraguay – holders of the Presidency of the Technical Commission on Citizen Participation (CPC). The SAI of Mexico, holders of the OLACEFS Presidency, participated virtually.
Of note was the presentation by Mariela Azofeifa, Head of Press and Communications at the Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic of Costa Rica and coach for the “Engaging with Stakeholders” program of the INTOSAI Development Initiative (IDI).
