After an adaptation process starting in 2017 in Lima, Peru, the INTOSAI Development Initiative – IDI – started an eLearning course in the context of the audit of institutional frameworks to combat corruption. The participation of 12 OLACEFS member Supreme Audit Institutions brings the total to 85 participants.
At the same time, with the help of the IDI eLearning team and the support of specialists from the SAIs of Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Peru and Paraguay, the “SAI leading by example in the implementation of ISSAI 30, code of ethics” component will begin.
Both elements of the IDI program on combating corruption are the result of taking into account the role played by SAIs in the implementation of sustainable development, as well as their important role in promoting efficiency, accountability, effectiveness and transparency in the public administration. IDI hopes to contribute to the goal of making SAIs more effective in the fight against corruption and thereby help SAIs do their part in encouraging governments to comply with the 2030 agenda’s SDG 16: “Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels”, and in particular aim 5 of the goal, to “substantially reduce bribery and corruption in all their forms”.
