An extensive report on workshops carried out in Chile’s SAI between March 23 and 25, in the context of a visit by the delegation from the Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia, was published on the official website of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations’ Supreme Audit Institutions (ASEANSAI).

The article explained that the activity focused on the work and role developed by the Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic of Chile as Executive Secretariat of the Organisation of Latin American and Caribbean Supreme Audit Institutions (OLACEFS), given that Indonesia’s SAI performs the same role in the Asian regional bloc.

The team became acquainted in detail with the Chilean experience heading the Executive Secretariat of the regional organisation, in order to adopt and adapt ideas and outcomes of good practices and share the lessons learned that have stood out over the period.

The visit was coordinated by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), which is supporting the Asian SAIs. In this context the group was joined by Jana Leutner, consultant from GIZ-Indonesia, and Peter Dineiger, director of the Regional Cooperation Programme OLACEFS-GIZ.

The article highlighted the collaborative work of the SAIs and their cooperation through regional organisations, represented by their executive secretaries and important to meet the growing expectations and demands of civil society, provide accountability and attend to the welfare of citizens.

Some of the issues the group found out about, mentioned by the report, are the standardised procedures for internal and external communication; the OLACEFS Knowledge Management System; support and implementation of pilot projects to strengthen the SAIs; the Integrated System for the Control of Audits (SICA).
