The Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic of Peru, in coordination with the INTOSAI Development Initiative (IDI), organized an advanced course on the measurement of performance of supreme audit institutions, which was held on February 12, 13 and 14 in Lima, Peru.

The course is part of activities planned in the Annual Operational Plan 2019 of the Technical Commission for the Assessment of Achievement and Performance Indicators (CEDEIR), presided over until December 2018 by the SAI of Peru, and from January 1, 2019, to 2021, under the SAI of El Salvador. The purpose of the course was to provide SAI professionals with greater knowledge on the methodology and application of PMF assessments, including the practical aspects of a new assessment.

Course participants included three IDI facilitators, four international consultants and 29 officials from the 15 SAIs (Belize, Bolivia, Chile, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Peru, Bhutan, Tunisia and Malawi), who have practical experience in PMF methodology and will be considered as future assessorts for their respective entities.

Carmen Elena Rivas Landaverde, President of the Court of Audit of the Republic of El Salvador and President of CEDEIR, expressed in her words of welcome the support the commission will offer, through the presidency, to foster and promote the development of OLACEFS and its members in terms of knowledge management.

Meanwhile Nelson Shack Yalta, Comptroller General of the Republic and President of OLACEFS, speaking at the close of the event, said that applying this tool offers an overview of the state of SAIs, using international standards, which will serve to strengthen them and help lead the fight against corruption. He said that as holder of the OLACEFS Presidency there is a strong commitment to seeing greater participation of all OLACEFS SAIs in activities, which will help consolidate the organization as a regional body that will continue to foster the strengthening of professional and institutional capacities, cooperation and technical assistance amongst its members.

CEDEIR is a technical body of the Organization of Latin American and Caribbean Supreme Audit Institutions (OLACEFS), dedicated to the management of knowledge amongst its members regarding performance assessment, strategic management and its oversight.
