OLACEFS participated in the “XXIV CLAD International Conference on State Reform and Public Administration,” which took place from November 12 to 15, 2019 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
With the panel “OLACEFS’ contribution to the implementation of the SDGs in the region,” led by Econ. Nelson Shack Yalta, head of the Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic of Peru and President of OLACEFS, a space dedicated to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the work of the Organization’s SAIs in achieving them was presented.
The aforementioned panel was accompanied by Dr. Eber Betanzos Torres, Head of the Technical Unit of the Superior Audit Office of the Federation of Mexico, and Lawyer Patricia Guillén Nolasco, technical liaison of the OLACEFS’ Citizen Participation Commission (CPC).
The speech of Econ. Nelson Shack was focused on the perspectives of the OLACEFS’ Presidency for the coming years in relation to the 2030 agenda and presented the progress on goal 4 of the 2017-2022 Strategic Plan of the Regional Organization. This goal is to promote the application of international standards and good practices in supreme auditing and has, as strategy 4.4, the promotion of the SDGs at the regional level and the role of SAIs in achieving the 2030 Agenda.
Additionally, the topics of strengthening democracy, the fight against corruption, and good practices in citizen participation in SAIs with an impact on the SDGs were covered by the representative of the SAI of Mexico and the technical liaison of the CPC, respectively.
In this way, the OLACEFS seeks to position itself in external spaces to publicize its activities and advances in the area of SDGs in the region.
