On July 22 and 23, various SAIs of the OLACEFS participated in the United Nations and IDI-INTOSAI joint meeting at the United Nations headquarters in New York, which brought together executives and actors around the theme of “Supreme Audit Institutions making a difference: Auditing the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.”

During the seminar the OLACEFS Executive Secretariat presented the results of the Ibero-American audit on Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 5, Gender Equality, during the panel “Information and recommendations of the SDG’s preparation audits: leave no one behind, gender equality and stakeholder engagement, “which was attended by Gilbert Ngoulakia, first president of the Gabon Court of Audit; Geraldine J. Fraser-Moleketi, who chairs the UN Committee of Experts on Public Administration; Osvaldo Rudloff, Executive Director of OLACEFS; and, Terry Hunt, Vice-President of the Canadian Audit and Accountability Foundation (CAAF), who moderated. In addition, OLACEFS participated in the panel “Audit of the implementation of SDGs: strategic considerations for SAIs,” in which Carlos Lustosa, from the Court of Audit of Brazil, spoke about the coordinated audit on SDGs that took place between 2017 and 2018, and Osvaldo Rudloff had the role of principal commentator, in which he shared results of the gender situation within the entities of the OLACEFS. The panel was moderated by Archana Shirsat of IDI-INTOSAI and was also attended by Tytti Yli-Viikari, Auditor General of Finland; Agus Joko Pramono, member of the Board of Auditors of the Republic of Indonesia; and, Yusador Gaye, Auditor General of Liberia. Regarding participation, OLACEFS Executive Secretary Jorge Bermúdez said: “We are very pleased to see the pioneering nature of the work that the OLACEFS is generating in terms of gender.” He added, on this point, that “there is great interest on the part of the international community and we are proud to be pioneers worldwide, both in the evaluation of the governments of our countries and in the self-assessment we carried out through the survey of perception on equality of gender in our organizations.”

This meeting was attended by the President of the OLACEFS, Econ. Nelson Shack Yalta (SAI of Peru); the Executive Secretary, Dr. Jorge Bermúdez Soto (SAI of Chile); and the heads of the member SAIs: Lic. Graciela de la Rosa, Lic. Jesús Rodríguez and Dr. Juan Ignacio Forlón (SAI of Argentina), Mrs. Dorothy Ann Bradley (SAI of Belize); Dr. Henry Ara Perez (SAI of Bolivia); Ms. Marta Acosta Zúñiga (EFS Costa Rica); M.A. Roy Pineda Castro (EFS Honduras); Mr. David Colmenares Páramo (EFS Mexico); and Lic. Hugo Álvarez Perez (EFS Dominican Republic). In addition, representatives and delegations of the SAIs of Argentina, Curaçao, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala and Mexico attended.

United Nations and IDI-INTOSAI joint meeting
