On Tuesday, June 30, 2020, the LXXI Ordinary Meeting of the OLACEFS’ Board of Directors was held, the first held in a virtual way, in view of the context of the pandemic caused by Covid-19. The meeting was led by the President of the OLACEFS and Comptroller General of the Republic of Peru, Econ. Nelson Shack Yalta, and supported by the Comptroller General of the Republic of Chile and Executive Secretariat of OLACEFS, Jorge Bermúdez.
Remotely, the Meeting began, as scheduled, at 9 a.m. in Lima and brought together the members of the Board of Directors, which is composed of the President of the OLACEFS; the Executive Secretary of the Regional Organization; Susana Diaz, President of the Court of Accounts of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay; Augusto Nardes, Minister of the Federal Court of Accounts of Brazil; Camilo Benitez, Comptroller General of the Republic of Paraguay; Edwin Salazar, Comptroller General of Accounts of the Republic of Guatemala and Carlos Córdoba, Comptroller General of the Republic of Colombia.
In addition, the meeting was attended by the following members: Henry Ara Pérez, Comptroller General of the Plurinational State of Bolivia; Pablo Celi de la Torre, Comptroller General of the Republic of Ecuador; Carmen Elena Rivas Landaverde, President of the Court of Accounts of the Republic of El Salvador; Judge José Juan Pineda Varela, President of the Supreme Court of Auditors of the Republic of Honduras; David Rogelio Colmenares Páramo, Auditor General of the Federation of Mexico; María José Mejía García, Comptroller General of the Republic of Nicaragua; Yesmín M. Valdivieso, Comptroller of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico; Hugo Francisco Álvarez Pérez, President of the Chamber of Accounts of the Dominican Republic; and, Elvis Amoroso, Comptroller General of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. Also present were the representatives of the SAIs of Argentina, Belize, Cuba and Panama, in addition to the German Cooperation (GIZ) and the INTOSAI Development Initiative (IDI), bringing together 20 SAIs from the region and adding a total of 89 participants, who, thanks to their commitment, contributed to the success of the event.
The meeting reached important agreements such as the creation of the Working Group on Gender Equality and Non-Discrimination whose objective is to develop a gender policy proposal that will serve as a basis to be implemented in the SAIs of the OLACEFS; relaunch the Latin American and Caribbean Network to Combat Corruption (RLACC); update of the TDRs of the Working Group on Disaster Management Control in the Framework of the Sustainable Development Goals (GTFD). In addition, the OLACEFS Book describing information from the Member SAIs was presented, FRAN 2020 was announced, among others.
