The Office of the Comptroller General of Curaçao (Algemene Rekenkamer Curaçao) launched the Integrity Self-Assessment Workshop (IntoSAINT) on November 27, 28, 29, 2017, in the city of Willemstad, Curaçao, with the financial assistance of the Technical Commission on Good Governance Practices (CTPBG). The Workshop was moderated by Melissa Narro and Francisco Parral, officials of the Superior Audit Office of the Federation of Mexico (ASF), the cooperating SAI.

The self-assessment was carried out by a team made up of six officials from all areas of the Office of the Comptroller General of Curaçao who, guided by the moderators from Mexico’s SAI, conducted a risk analysis focusing on integrity and assessed the effectiveness of measures implemented by the institution to foster internal integrity. Following three days of work and analysis, workshop participants issued recommendations to the administration, which were included in the self-assessment report handed over by the moderators to members of the board, chaired by Miroslava I. Wedervoort, and to the Secretary General and other members of the senior management of the Office of the Comptroller General of Curaçao. These recommendations aim to strengthen institutional efforts to improve the management of organizational integrity and as such provide better protection against risks to integrity.

IntoSAINT is a tool adopted by INTOSAI and currently implemented worldwide, with the support of the regional SAI organizations. In the case of Latin America and the Caribbean, including the Office of the Comptroller General of Curaçao there are 18 OLACEFS SAIs – 82% of members – that can testify to the value and benefits of this tool. The CTPBG will continue promoting the implementation of this initiative in OLACEFS in 2018, given its positive impact on capacity building in terms of integrity and good governance.
