We extend the most cordial invitation to the entire SAI community, stakeholders and the general public to participate in the fourth cycle of our Webinar Cycle in Times of COVID-19, next Wednesday, June 17, at 12:00 hrs. Santiago (UTC – 4) where we will discuss the Differential effect of the pandemic on women.

In mid-March, UN Women warned that, in emergency responses, due to increased tensions at home, the risks of violence against women and girls increase. In addition, it indicated that the economic impact of the pandemic can create additional barriers to leaving a violent partner. In this sense, in this session, we will address how contexts of emergency, such as the current pandemic, particularly affect the life and dignity of women because they are a group in a vulnerable situation.

In this session, we will have the participation of:

  • María Inés Salamanca, Coordinator of UN Women Chile.
  • Ximena Gauché Marchetti, Deputy Director of Gender Equity and Diversity, Universidad de Concepción, Chile.
  • Selene Soto Rodiguez, Senior Attorney Womens´ Link Worldwide.
