On November 14, 15 and 16, 2016, the Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic (CGR) of Cuba held a Workshop on Self-Assessment and Integrity (IntoSAINT), which was moderated by Melissa Narro and Francisco Parral, both from the Superior Audit Office of the Federation of Mexico (cooperating agency). The workshop was attended by 15 officials from key areas of Cuba’s CGR.
By applying IntoSAINT methodology, participants had the opportunity over the three days to update the analysis of identified integrity risks, to assess the strength of the controls implemented to promote ethics and integrity, and to issue recommendations to senior management in order to consolidate the management of institutional integrity. At the meeting with senior management, the moderators from the SAI of Mexico presented the results of the workshop to Comptroller Gladys Maria Bejerano Portela. It was reaffirmed that this self-assessment exercise will help consolidate the efforts developed by the CGR for continuous improvement.
The workshop had an impact on compliance with the goals set by the Technical Commission on Good Governance Practices (CTPBG), the OLACEFS body responsible for the implementation of the initiative in the region. IntoSAINT is an initiative adopted by INTOSAI and currently implemented globally by the SAI community, recognized by the INTOSAI Steering Committee as a capacity-building tool for SAIs.
