The Seminar on Sustainable Development Goals and Oversight will be held from October 23 – 25, 2017, in the Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic (Teatinos 78, Santiago).
Working sessions for Monday 23 and Tuesday 24 will be held from 9:00 – 17:30 in the form of presentations and discussions from four panels. On Wednesday 25 there will be two panels between 9:00 and 12:30.
Each of the panels will address issues linked to Sustainable Development Goals, such as strengthening the rule of law, the fight against corruption, supreme oversight of state enterprises; inclusion, participation and democracy; adapting to risks relating to climate change and natural disasters; education indicators, Chile in the international context.
In this context, members of the Organization of Latin American and Caribbean Supreme Audit Institutions are developing two audits to assess how national governments are preparing to meet challenges regarding food and gender, following an integrated approach to the seventeen goals.
In parallel and within the framework of the 2017 SDG Seminar, in a project led by the Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic of Chile, SAIs from different countries will work on a coordinated audit on SDG 5, “Gender Equality”. The audit will evaluate the preparation of the national governments of Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Curaçao, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and the local government of Bogotá, Colombia for implementing SDG 5, aimed at gender equality and empowering all women and girls.
