Participation of more than 164 representatives from SAIs worldwide and international cooperation agencies

Last Thursday, November 27 the 24th General Assembly of the Organisation of Latin American and Caribbean Supreme Audit Institutions (OLACEFS) drew to a close in the city of Cusco, Peru, with an emotive speech by the President of the Organisation Minister Augusto Nardes.

President Nardes thanked those who had attended: “I am very grateful to all those who have worked these last two years in OLACEFS with such energy and persistence, with great vigour and a sense of cooperation to make a better Latin America ”.

At the end of his mandate as head of Brazil’s SAI, Minister Nardes will pass the baton to his colleague Minister Aroldo Cedraz who takes up the presidency  of Brazil’s SAI in December 2014 and consequently the chair of OLACFS for the final year of the 2013 – 2015 period corresponding to Brazil’s SAI.

The closure of the event took place after the General Assembly’s administrative session which approved the Organisation’s draft budget for 2015 and the reports of the Committees, Commissions and Working Groups . The reports of the Presidency and the Executive Secretariat were also presented, as was a progress reports on preparations for the 8th EUROSAI – OLACEFS meetings to take place in Quito, Ecuador  in 2015, and those for the next Ordinary General Assembly to take place in November 2015 in Mexico City.

The ceremony to welcome new OLACEFS members took place as part of the administrative session. New members include the Office of the Comptroller General of Curacao (as a full member), the Court of Auditors of the Province of Santa Fe, Argentina (as an affiliate member), the Rui Barbosa Institute (as permanent observer) as well as 14 courts of auditors from the Brazilian states.

Participants at the event numbered over 164 and included representatives from the General Auditing Office of the Nation of Argentina, the Court of Auditors of Brazil, the Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic of Chile,  the Office of the Comptroller General of Colombia, the Office of the Comptroller General of Costa Rica, the Office of the Comptroller General of Cuba, the Office of the Comptroller General of Curacao, the Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic of Ecuador, the Court of Accounts of the Republic of El Salvador, the Office of the Comptroller General of Accounts of the Republic of Guatemala, the Superior Court of Auditors of the Republic of Honduras, the Superior Audit Office of the Federation of Mexico, the Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic of Nicaragua, the Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic of Panama, the Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic of Paraguay, the Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic of Peru, the Office of the Comptroller of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the Chamber of Accounts of the Dominican Republic, the Court of Auditors of the Republic of Uruguay, the Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic of Venezuela, the Honourable Court of Auditors of the Province of Buenos Aires, the State Courts of Auditors of Bahía, Minas Gerais, Paraná, Río Grande do Sul, Tocantins, Ceará, Paraíba, Pernambuco, Rio Grande do Norte, Rondonia,  the Office of the Comptroller General of Bogotá, the Office of the Comptroller General of Medellín, the Court of Auditors of Spain, the Court of Auditors of Portugal, the Court of Auditors of Santa Fe, the Rui Barbosa Institute, the Court of Auditors of the Municipalities of Bahía, the Court of Auditors of the Federal District – Brazil and the Association of Members of the Courts of Auditors of Brazil.

Representatives also attended from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the World Bank (WB), The Programme for Social Cohesion in Latin America (EUROsociAL), the US Government Accountability Office (GAO), the German Cooperation Agency (GIZ), the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the Organisation of American States (OAS), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the INTOSAI Presidency (SAI of China), the General Secretariat of INTOSAI (SAI of Austria), the Presidency of EUROSAI (SAI of Netherlands), the European Court of Auditors, the INTOSAI Development Initiative (IDI), the Police Community of the Americas (AMERIPOL), the High Level Anti-Corruption Commission (CAN), the Inter-American Center of Tax Administrations (CIAT) and Citizen Action Colombia (AC-Colombia).
