From January 2015, on the completion of the term of office of Minister Augusto Nardes as President of Brazil’s Court of Accounts (TCU) – the supreme audit institution holding the presidency of OLACEFS – Minister Aroldo Cedraz de Oliveira will take on that position for the final year of the 2013-2015 triennium.

Minister Cedraz graduated in veterinary medicine from the Universidad Federal de Bahía, Brazil, and also holds a Masters in veterinary medicine from the Universidade Federal de Santa Maria, Brazil, and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Tierärztliche Hochschule in Hannover, Germany. Before assuming the post of Minister of the TCU, Cedraz was federal deputy and held various positions in the government of Bahia, also working as a university professor.

The new OLACEFS President has highlighted the fact that the organization, under the chairmanship of the SAI of Brazil, has expanded its role in international cooperation on issues such as external control and the independence and effectiveness of the Supreme Audit Institutions in the region. Ministro Cedraz also stated that he aims to continue and refine this work, emphasising innovation and issues known to bring about change, such as coordinated audits, dissemination of best practices and the constant professionalism of the officials of all the entities that make up OLACEFS.
