With the support of the IDB and the technical support of AC-Colombia, the Technical Commission on Good Governance Practices of OLACEFS, chaired by the Auditor General of Argentina, during the months of November 2018 to April 2019, the first stage of the project “Improving access to information and the use of government audit products in Latin America and the Caribbean,” called Diagnosis and baseline, was developed.

The study focused on: 1) identifying the factors that influenced the results of the information availability index of the supreme audit institutions IDIGI-EFS in 2017 and 2018; 2) investigating the scope of communication strategies; 3) analyzing the ease of reading and understanding of the audit products with interested parties and, 4) assessing the accessibility and usability of the institutional portals of SAIs.

Although the 2018 Measurement showed an increase of 15 points in the levels of information availability in relation to the 2017 Measurement (going from 51 to 66 points), the results indicate that it is possible to continue making progress in the short term.

The CTPBG continues to do this work. On this occasion, we share the results and main recommendations of the study with the OLACEFS community for the purpose of motivating SAIs to improve their strategies in terms of access to information and promotion of the use of their audit products.
