On August 27, 2015, the First Strategic Planning Meeting for 2017 – 2022 of the Organisation of Latin American and Caribbean Supreme Audit Institutions (OLACEFS) started in the city of Panama. The event brings together the Organisation’s presidency, the Executive Secretariat and the chairs of the OLACEFS Committees, Commissions and working groups, with the aim of exchanging ideas on the Mission, Vision, Strategic Objectives and Strategies which will be part of the new Strategic Plan.

Representatives of the SAIs of Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Chile, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay participated whilst Panama provided the venue for the event and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) leant support through a specialist consultant on Strategic Planning.

In the opening ceremony Orcila V. de Constable, Consular Commercial National Director for the Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic of Panama, representing Comptroller General Federico Humbert Arias, welcomed all the participants. In addition the opening round table was made up of Victor Hart, representative of the OLACEFS presidency, Osvaldo Rudloff, representing the OLACEFS Executive Secretariat, and Loida de Athanasiadis, National Consular Commercial Assistant Director for Panama’s SAI.

In her speech Ms Constable announced that in the framework of the first Strategic Planning Meeting, convened by the OLACEFS presidency under the charge of Brazil’s Court of Accounts, with the assistance of the German Cooperation Agency, those participating had been called to put together a proposal on the mission, vision, aims and strategy for the Organisation for the five-year period 2017-2022, keeping in mind the guidelines of the International Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions, INTOSAI.

The meeting ended on August 28 with the presentation of a Planning Matrix which will be shared with all SAI OLACEFS, allowing them to offer opinions and suggestions.
