At the end of 2017, the INTOSAI Development Initiative (IDI) published the Global SAI Stocktaking Report 2017, which, as of June 2018, has been available in Spanish, French and Arabic.

IDI has made this document available to SAIs, stakeholders and INTOSAI organizations. The purpose of the report is to provide information on the performance of SAIs in the supervision of the strategic plans of the INTOSAI agencies; to measure the progress of SAI capacity building based on the 2014 review; and to provide information relating to the capacity and performance of SAIs.

The document is based on the results of the INTOSAI Global Survey 2017, implemented by IDI together with key partners of the organization. According to the report, 171 INTOSAI SAIs participated (including 95% of OLACEFS full-member SAIs). The study was complemented with findings from global data sources on SAIs, such as assessments from the SAI Performance Measurement Framework (PMF-SAI) and Public Expenditure and Financial Accountability (PEFA), as well as the open budget survey and the SAI capacity-building database.
