The Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic of Ecuador was elected as chair of the Working Group specialized in the Fight against Transnational Corruption (GTCT) through elections in which the 15 SAIs that make up this technical body participated, including Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Paraguay and Peru, as well as the associate SAI members of Santa Catarina (Brazil), Acre (Brazil) and Buenos Aires (Argentina).

The activities of the GTCT began on July 1st through a videoconference in which the member SAIs belonging to this new working group participated, in addition to the Presidency of the Regional Organization. It was within the meeting that the election results were announced, awarding the SAI of Ecuador as the winner.

The GTCT was promoted by the Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic of Peru and aims to promote the exchange of timely information among SAIs in the region for the better execution of their governmental investigation and audit processes, which contribute to the fight against transnational corruption, as well as the exchange of experiences and good practices in this area.

The Office of the Comptroller General of the State of the Republic of Ecuador, Dr. Pablo Celi de la Torre, thanked the appointment of his institution as Chair of the GTCT and announced the upcoming activities within the working group, reiterating its commitment to its objectives. Finally, he invited the SAI members to have active participation and all those who want to join the work of the aforementioned working group.
