This initiative seeks to work jointly on issues of common interest aligned to the objectives of sustainable development

The Comptroller General of the Republic of Peru, Fuad Khoury Zarzar, in his capacity as chairman of the Subcommittee on Cooperative Audits of the International Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions INTOSAI, presented the Guide for Cooperative Audits at the Annual Meeting of the Capacity Building Committee, CBC, held in Sweden from September 8 -10, 2015.

The guide sets out the main aspects for the preparation, implementation and follow-up of the recommendations of audits carried out by two or more audit institutions together, in parallel or in a coordinated manner on an issue or issues of common interest.

The formalisation of the guide began in 2013 with its dissemination amongst regional INTOSAI groups, especially OLACEFS. It was approved by the CBC on September 10, which is a fundamental step towards completing the ISSAI 5800 approval process at the INTOSAI Congress to be held in the UAE in 2016.

This achievement is particularly significant for the region due to the participation of the OLACEFS Supreme Audit Institutions in coordinated audits at a time when the United Nations and INTOSAI are encouraging our SAIs to carry out audits as a means of supporting the monitoring of the implementation of the new sustainable development goals from the post-2015 programme.

The participation in the promotion of the guide by Peru’s SAI, as Chair of the CBC Subcommittee, has been decisive for its approval, along with its experience in this field as part of the OLACEFS CCC.
